All roads along your trip have no big traffic. Roads with big traffic are:
1. Saint-Petersburg - Veliky Novgorod - Moscow (out of your route)
2. Saint-Petersburg - Pskov - Opochka - Pustoshka - Nevel'
3. Moscow - Pustoshka - Burachki - Riga
Avoid them by all means. Use any different roads.
South part of RUS-EST border (South from Peipsi lake) has two crossing points for all citizenships:
1. Kunichina Gora
2. Shumilkino
They work 24h, and open for pedestrians and cyclists.
RUS-LV border has only three crossing points for all citizenships:
1. Ludonka
2. Ubylinka
3. Burachki
They work 24h, and open for pedestrians and cyclists too.
Cycling along Russia in winter is possible, and more or less popular. But, NB! you SHOULD use huge lights and many cat's-eye reflectors and etc. One mounth ago Japanese cyclist Haruhisa Watanabe was hit and died on the North of European Russia. The accident was at night, and Watanabe was without lights and cat's-eyes.
